Here’s how it happened…
After a year of lockdown, social distancing, and rescheduled weddings I was finding myself in need of a serious creative outlet. What better way to fill the void than to leave the usual PNW forests and venture into a high desert? That is exactly what happened this March (on my birthday weekend, in fact)! I traveled all the way to Southern California to capture this beautiful Joshua Tree wedding editorial inspired by the high desert.
Below is a glimpse into this high desert wedding editorial in none other than Joshua Tree National Park. I am SO excited to share this set of images. Not only because they are beautiful and full of heart, but because this was the first ever set of wedding or editorial images I’ve capture exclusively on film. Thats right – I didn’t snap a single digital image on this entire trip. I didn’t even bring my digital camera. This set was only shot on Portra 160 with my Pentax 645nii. Shooting film and only film made me so much more intentional and creative during this editorial… and it fueled my creativity. This was just what I needed going in to the 2021 wedding season. Talk about a breath of fresh air!
I cannot say “thank you” enough to the amazing vendor team that made this day happen! From the custom headpiece to the wooden floral bouquet, this whole look and day was a dream and a true reflection of the high desert. Thank you so much to all of the following:
