This October micro wedding at the McMenamins Grand Lodge just outside of Portland, Oregon was the perfect way to start fall of 2020. After months of quarantine due to the pandemic, it was incredibly refreshing to watch Sarah and Andrew say “I do” in front of their three closest friends. Like many in 2020, their original wedding plans had changed. But these two made the most of a tough situation and let their love for each other be the focal point of the day.
The wedding festivities started with a few getting ready photos of Sarah. Then the couple met on the hotel balcony for a first look. Once they saw each other, the nerves went away and they were so eager to get married.
On the second floor of the hotel, their friends had cleared some tables and prepared a cell phone live stream. Everyone who was unable to join the ceremony was able to watch from home! Sarah and Andrew walked hand in hand into the ceremony space before they gave their handwritten vows and promises to each other. Their family and friends watching remotely as they said “I do!”. Then a few cheers and many smiles later, the group and I headed outside for some portraits. Thankfully the rain had stopped and a little sun peaked out to say “congrats!”.
One of my favorite moments and photos from the day was when Andrew helped carry Sarah’s heels after her feet began to hurt. I mean just how sweet is that?! Little moments of kindness and love like this are one of my favorite things to capture and witness on a wedding day.
Anyways, I am so excited to share some of my favorite moments and photos from their McMenamins Grand Lodge wedding! Take a peek below to see it through my eyes.
